Mounted Royal Engineer – Field Troop South Africa
Currently looking at the details of pulling a representative of one of the Field Troops in the second half of the Boer War. The Corps initially deployed a single Field Troop but as the war progressed and the amount of Cavalry and Mounted Infantry increased so did the number of Field Troops, so that by the end of the war there was a 5 Field Troops operating.
The aim of the impression will be to look towards a Sapper in the Field rather than in Camp.
Imperial Yeomanry – Derbyshire Yeomanry Volunteer
As part of the research on the Derbyshire Yeomanry I found that a number of locals men went to South Africa as part of the 3 deployments of the Yeomanry Units to become part of the Imperial Yeomanry.
The aim is to look at creating an impression of a first tranche deployment of the 8th Company “Derbyshire” of Imperial Yeomanry.
The impression will also include the setting up of 1890 UP Saddle to reflect that initial deployment and to be a mix of Cavalry and mounted Infantry focus.
